Lots of great walks in the Manifold Valley, Dales and Dovedale. We appreciated a well equipped cottage, comfy bed and and enjoyable stay.

Relax and unwind in our idyllic hideaway!
Liz & Chris would love to welcome you to their idyllic hideaway in one of the most spectacular locations in the Peak District National Park!
The Old Byre is a romantic one bedroom cottage for a couple and we also have the Haybarn (2 bedrooms) and Coach House (3 bedrooms) for families. The cottages have many original features and beamed ceilings but they are very much 21st century exuding luxury, comfort and warmth. And there’s wonderful walking straight from the door !
Expect comfy beds with premium quality linen, mattress toppers, robes and sumptuous towels. You will be greeted personally with a welcome tray, pot of tea, locally made scones and preserves. Our aim is to provide you with a lovely, relaxing, self indulgent treat – we want you to have a great holiday and go home refreshed and ready to meet the world again!
Welcome to spectacular locations in the Peak District National Park
Steeped in history, this is an area of outstanding natural beauty with lush, tranquil dales and wild romantic highlands. Swainsley Farm is situated in an elevated position overlooking the peaceful and idyllic Manifold Valley where the river flows through spectacular crags, gorges and woodland before joining Dovedale a few miles downstream.
The Manifold Trail offers 9.5 miles of walking and cycling through some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole of the National Park. Less energetic guests can stroll along the banks of the river or explore our pretty villages with their lovely old churches and ancient inns.
New deluxe kitchens with granite worktops and modern bathrooms create an impression of understated luxury. Each cottage has a biomass wood burning stove. Visitors can borrow our adult bikes and have the use of a complimentary leisure centre pass (Leek) for the gym and swimming pool etc.
Parking is well away from the road but there are shops, pubs and wonderful places to eat are close-by. Buxton, Bakewell, Leek and Ashbourne are all about 10 miles away and have regular markets, good shops and cafes. Chatsworth House, Matlock Bath, many National Trust properties, Alton Towers and other family attractions are only a short drive away. There’s lots to see and do, whatever the weather!
Larger Groups please note that the Coach House has a very spacious lounge and the Haybarn can be arranged to dine up to 12 people.
